The New York Yankees are discussing a trade for David Freese with the St. Louis Cardinals, according to a source.

The Yankees would use Freese as insurance in the event they don't have Alex Rodriguez at third base next season.

St. Louis is hoping to move Matt Carpenter from second base to third, opening a spot at second for top prospect Kolten Wong.

Don't do it Yankees. Way cheaper and better options out there such as Jhonny Peralta or just use Nunez who's very good defensively.
