Club officials have been indicating to agents and others around baseball that the team is nearing its payroll limit, though exceptions may be made for certain players.
David Price, who would have to be acquired via trade with the Tampa Bay Rays, and Nelson Cruz, who remains a free agent, could be two players that Seattle will go above and beyond for this offseason.
