Mets Tried To Land Grant Balfour

The New York Mets were interested in Grant Balfour, but did not top the offer he received from the Tampa Bay Rays, according to a report.
The Mets had "dialogue" with Balfour, who agreed to join the Rays on Thursday.
It has also been reported that the Mets did match Tampa Bay's offer.
