Prince Fielder, acquired in a trade with the Detroit Tigers, will hit third for the Texas Rangers this season.
"He's going to get the MVP," Adrian Beltre said. "It's his time to win it. My job is to protect him so that he gets there."
In the last three seasons, Fielder has provided protection for National League MVP Ryan Braun and American League MVP Miguel Cabrera.
"I think it's going to be outstanding," Fielder said. "I like it a lot. Definitely not upset about it.
"Anytime you get to hit in front of a guy like that, it's not going to hurt."
