Rangers Nearing Deal With Daniel Bard

The Texas Rangers are nearing a Minor League deal with Daniel Bard that would include an invitation to Spring Training.
Bard, 28, had surgery Jan. 2 to repair thoracic outlet syndrome after struggling in winter ball with the Chicago Cubs.
Bard was 5-6 with a 6.22 ERA in 2012 with the Boston Red Sox, who attempted to put him in the rotation that season. He was in the minors most of 2013.
