There is a very good chance that the Los Angeles Angels will simply renew Mike Trout's contract once again in March, but it won't come with the same sting of last year's decision.

That's because the two sides have begun negotiations on a multiple-year extension that is expected to make Trout one of baseball's highest-paid players.

Trout and the Angels hope to reach a deal after the season starts.
