Scott Feldman will start for the Houston Astros on Opening Day when they face the New York Yankees on April 1.
Feldman, who pitched for the Chicago Cubs and Baltimore Orioles last season, signed a three-year, $30 million deal with Houston this winter.
"If you look at his track record, the fact that he is a former 17-game winner and the fact that he gives us a great opportunity to win a ballgame every time he takes the mound, that's why he's our choice," Bo Porter said. "He's a strike-thrower, a competitor."
