Masterson Has Lost 2.6 MPH Off Fastball Since Last Season

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue May 20, 2014 8:00 pm

Justin Masterson has lost 2.6 miles per hour off his fastball between this season and last, leading a list of soon-to-be free agent starting pitchers.

Felipe Paulino (-2.2 MPH), Dan Haren (-1.8 MPH), and Bruce Chen (.1-5 MPH) are the only other starters waiting to hit the market that have lost at least a mile-and-a-half off their fastball over the last year.

Conversely, four pitchers have seen their velocity go up by at least a mile over the same time frame.

Brandon McCarthy (+2.2), Jorge De La Rosa (+1.6), Ryan Vogelsong (+1.3) and J.A. Happ (+1.0) have added heat.
