Michael Pineda will start for the New York Yankees against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night.
Pineda had been scheduled to throw another rehab start.
The right-hander has not pitched in the Major Leagues since April 23, when he was ejected in the second inning of a game against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park for using pine tar.
He was given a 10-game suspension for the infraction, and suffered a strained lat muscle below his pitching shoulder throwing a simulated game while awaiting reinstatement.
