The Oakland Athletics have avoided arbitration with Jesse Chavez by coming to terms on a one-year, $2.15 million deal.
The 31-year-old right-hander had a breakout season in 2014.
Forced into the starting rotation by injuries, Chavez had a 3.45 ERA with 8.4 K/9, 3.0 BB/9 and a 42 percent ground-ball rate in 146 innings.
