White Sox Undecided On Rodon's Role Going Forward

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon May 11, 2015 1:04 pm

The Chicago White Sox haven't yet announced whether Carlos Rodon will remain in the starting rotation.

However, Robin Ventura said Sunday that Rodon won't pitch in the club's upcoming series with the Milwaukee Brewers after tossing 108 pitches during his first Major League start on Saturday.

"He'll need some days off," Ventura said.

Rodon made three relief appearances before starting this weekend.

Monitoring his innings is something Chicago is undoubtedly doing. If Rodon were to remain in the rotation going forward, he figures to make around 25 starts. If he averaged six innings per appearance, he'd finish the season having pitched around 160 innings.

"Right now, he's just pitching. I think that's where he's at. He's happy to be here in the big leagues," said Ventura of Rodon. "And he has the ability. That's why he's here.

"You're also somewhat protecting the amount of usage you're going to get out of him over the course of the year, so there's some factors that go into it for him and his learning curve and things like that. There's more to it than he's just ready to go."
