The Kansas City Royals have optioned Yordano Ventura to Triple-A.
The 24-year-old right-hander broke out last season as one of baseball's best young arms.
Kansas City locked Ventura up with a five-year, $23 million deal prior to the 2015 season.
However, Ventura has pitched to a 5.19 ERA over 76 1/3 innings this year.
