The Kansas City Royals haven't confirmed the story, but multiple reports indicate that Edinson Volquez's father passed away in the Dominican Republic on Tuesday.
Volquez started Game 1 of the World Series for the Royals.
The right-hander's father, Daniel, passed away at age 63 due to heart disease.
The Kansas City Star and Associated Press have both reported that Volquez had no knowledge of his father's death prior to taking the mound.
