The St. Louis Cardinals have acquired Jedd Gyorko from the San Diego Padres in exchange for Jon Jay.
St. Louis will also receive cash as part of the trade.
There have been varying reports as to how much money will be send to the Cardinals. USA Today reports that San Diego is sending $17 million, which represents about half of what Gyorko is owed over the remainder of his contract.
However, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that $7.5 million will be sent to the Cardinals.
