Cubs Will Use Six-Man Rotation

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Jun 22, 2016 12:44 pm

The Chicago Cubs will use a six-man starting rotation over the next few weeks to give their starters some extra rest, according to Joe Maddon.

Adam Warren was sent to Triple-A Iowa to be stretched out and then will be recalled to start. Maddon says the Cubs will use a six-man rotation heading into the All-Star break, and perhaps after it, as well.

"This is when it gets a little bit sticky at this time of the year," Maddon said. "You want to make sure they're healthy and well ... I love it. I've been part of this before, primarily after the break."

Time for John Gibbons and the Blue Jays to make a similar change... they are one of the FEW teams that actually have 6 legit starters,

Haap
Estrada
Sanchez
Stroman
Dickey
Hutchinson

and this will help 3-fold..

1. Reduce Sanchez, 23, total innings as planned and to be available for potential playoffs
2. Ween Dickey, 41 out of the rotation as he is prime trade bait and sure to be off playoff roster again
3. Ease Hutchinson, 26 back into rotation, potential playoff roster and primed for 2017 spot
