Kris Bryant Could Shatter Pre-Arbitration Salary Record

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Mar 6, 2017 12:42 pm

The Chicago Cubs haven't yet agreed to a deal with Kris Bryant for 2017, but talks are ongoing.

Bryant will be arbitration-eligible for the first time next offseason.

He could surpass Mike Trout's still-standing pre-arbitration record; he earned $1 million in 2014.

At the time, Trout had a Rookie of the Year award on his resume, but he hadn't yet been named MVP. Bryant was the National League MVP last season.

Can baseball change it's dumb rules so that guys can make money when they deserve it, and not when they are 37, injured, out of shape but still making $20 million a year ??
