2017 Postseason Setting Record For Game Duration

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Oct 18, 2017 2:50 pm

The MLB is setting a record for game duration in the postseason with the average nine-inning game lasting three hours and 35 minutes, which is up 10 minutes from 2016 and 21 minutes from two years ago.

The regular season also set a record for game duration.

Playoff games typically run longer than regular season games due to commercial breaks and the heavy use of the bullpen.

Rob Manfred declined comment on Tuesday but he's typically been committed to shortening games.
