The Cincinnati Reds have hired John Farrell as a scout.
It will be Farrell's first job since the Boston Red Sox dismissed him as manager last October with one year remaining on his contract.
Farrell, 55, is expected to report to the Reds in Goodyear, Arizona on Thursday.
