Major League Baseball has hired former pitcher Chris Young as vice president of on-field operations, initiatives and strategy.
Young will work on issues including pace of play and assist on negotiations with umpires, players and minor league baseball. He will also be involved in scoring reviews.
He was 79-67 with a 3.95 ERA in 13 seasons and won a World Series with the Kansas City Royals.
