The St. Louis Cardinals have agreed to acquire Matt Adams from the Washington Nationals via a waiver claim.
The Nationals are simply offloading the remainder of Adams\' salary in the deal. He is owed $877,000 through the rest of the season.
Adams, 29, returns to the organization that drafted him in the 23rd round of the 2009 amateur draft.
