The Oakland Athletics clinched the final playoff berth in the American League with the Tampa Bay Rays\' loss on Monday night.
The A\'s are still mathematically alive in the American League West, but they trail the Houston Astros by five games with six to play. Oakland is expected to face the New York Yankees in the Wild Card Game on Oct. 3.
The Yankees have a two-game lead over the A\'s for home field advantage.
