Even with big markets Boston & LA facing off in the World Series, I'm not surprised the ratings were down. The NBA's opening week was just so much more entertaining seeing players with their new teams as well exciting matchups. MLB stars are also "meh" unlike in the past decades,

MLB needs to figure out:
-Scheduling World Series to be done by mid-October when NBA starts (cut 10-14 days off: 160 game season, start spring training/reg season a week earlier, 1 less day for AS break)
-Starting west coast games earlier if a team from west coast is in World Series

The MLB needs more star players, plain and simple from a casual MLB follower.

I don't think they should cut down on regular season games, maybe if anything do scheduled double headers in the summer if possible.

This really surprises me. Even as a Yankee fan, I watched some games (when it was close). The minute it's a blowout, I turn it off though.
Maybe people thought that Boston was going to take this easily that they didn't care to watch.

No one cares about the Red Sox.

But I missed most of the games because I didn't know they were on. I feel as though advertising in baseball, and just general promotion, is lower than NBA and NFL.

Baseball doesn't promote itself very well. You really have to be consciously thinking about baseball so you don't miss it. Particularly on the internet.
