The New York Yankees used a huge third inning to grab control over the Minnesota Twins and take a 2-0 lead in the ALDS on Saturday.
Already leading 3-0, Didi Gregorius came to the plate with the bases loaded. Seconds later, he launched a home run to right field for a grand slam that removed any drama from the remainder of the game. The Yankees recorded 11 hits and saw their entire starting lineup reach base in their 8-2 victory.
The free-swinging Twins failed to go deep in the game, while they struck out 14 times. Randy Dobnak and Tyler Duffey combined to allow eight runs over less than three innings to begin the game.
The Yankees, meanwhile, continued to get strong postseason pitching from Masahiro Tanaka. He struck out seven over five innings and surrendered just one run on three hits.
The Twins have lost a Major League-record 15 consecutive playoff games, including 12 in-a-row to the Yankees.
The clubs will face off in Game 3 on Monday night with Luis Severino and Jake Odorizzi on the mound.
