Recap: Jose Altuve\'s Walk-Off Puts Astros In World Series

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Oct 20, 2019 4:50 am

Jose Altuve came up big for the Houston Astros in Game 6 of the ALCS.

With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Altuve hit a walk-off home run off Aroldis Chapman to give the Astros a 6-4 victory and put them in next week\'s World Series against the Washington Nationals.

The game only went to the bottom of the ninth because of D.J. LeMahieu\'s two-run homer to right in the top of the inning.

LeMahieu\'s blast went into the stands just pass the outstretched arm of George Springer.

With the series schedule altered by a postponement (rain) on Wednesday, both teams used a bullpen approach with the Yankees \"starting\" Chad Green and the Astros going with Brad Peacock. Green gave up a three-run home run to Yuli Gurriel in the first, while Gary Sanchez hit an RBI single off of Peacock in the second.

Roberto Usuna, who blew the save when LeMahieu homered, got the win after striking out Aaron Judge and getting Gleyber Torres to fly out to left.

Altuve\'s home run came after Aroldis Chapman got Martin Maldonado to strike out, Josh Reddick popped out to third and Springer walked.

The Astros will host Game 1 of the World Series against the Washington Nationals on Tuesday.
