Aaron Judge Labels Yankees\' Season \'A Failure\'

A 103-win season, claiming the AL East for the first time since 2012, prevailing over an unprecedented rash of injuries and opening postseason play with a sweep of the Twins all meant nothing to the Yankees as they bowed out of the playoffs with a single swing from Jose Altuve off closer Aroldis Chapman.

\"It\'s a failure,\" a dejected Aaron Judge said. \"In spring training, we talked about winning the division and putting ourselves in a good spot in the postseason to win a World Series. We came up short. No matter how many games we won in the regular season or what else we did, this season is a failure.\"

The Yankees have next to no pitching. They can mash with the best of them, but when it’s time to toe the rubber and shut a team down they cannot do it with who they have.

I’m interested to see who they target arm wise this offseason, and whether or not they overspend to fill their most glaring need.

Baseball like majority of the major sports shouldn’t consider a season a failure if you don’t get the main prize. Back to the drawing board young buck.
Top 4 isn’t too shabby

The Yankees had a great season and overcame many many injuries. I can't blame them for losing to a better team. The Astros made a move before the trade deadline that put them over the top, and the Yankees ignored their glaring starting pitching issues and stood pat when starting pitching is exponentially more important in the playoffs.

If the Yankees made the move for Stroman or Greinke, they'd be the ones celebrating right now, IMO. Hitting can only do so much when you are facing 2 of the best starting pitchers in baseball and even still many of their better hitters were hurt and I still think Luke Voit should have been on the PS roster.

Grienke would never play in NY. Stroman was marginal at best with NYM. Doubt with either option it guarantees a win over HOU. Now getting a player like Syndergard or deGrom that’s where you make a major move that will affect a move to the world series. A move like that would cost Gleybar and they will never trade their golden boy. Go after Cole this offseason. Yankees have some bad luck in previous years free agent (Ohtani) so it will be interesting to see if he chooses HOU/LAA over NYY his favorite team a child

Stroman was very good, in fact better than most of the Yankees starting pitching. Tanaka / Stroman / Severino is solid and you have no need for bullpen games or Paxton starting. I agree that they should go for Cole in the off season. Their hitting is fine, and bullpen one of the best in baseball, they just need/needed another starting pitcher to put them over the top. They lost to the better team.

Severino didn’t start pitching until September and just started at the end to pitch five full innings of baseball so to truly rely on him was a fault in its own stupidity. Paxton was solid and the only reason you won a game versus HOU in Yankee Stadium so I’m confused. He’s a much a better pitcher over Marcus Stroman

Stroman has a better ERA. Severino coming off injury was one of the big reasons they should have traded for one of those guys, to sure it up, then when German got booted it made things worse.
