The New York Yankees have decided not to extend the $17.8 million qualifying offer to Didi Gregorius.

Gregorius will be a free agent. If he signs elsewhere, the Yankees won\'t receive draft pick compensation.

From 2016 to 2018, Gregorius averaged over 20 home runs per season. He was limited to 82 games this past year after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

As a New Yorker, but a Mets fan, I admittedly admire the young players the Yanks have.

I’m not sure this was the best move considering Didi’s talent. Perhaps they know more about a prolonged issue with his health.

There will be no shortage of teams interested in 20+ HR hitting SS this winter.
