MLB Games Without Fans Becoming Stronger Possibility

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Apr 1, 2020 1:05 pm

Major League Baseball\'s Opening Day has been pushed back to at least mid-May, with the situation remaining fluid.

MLB and the MLBPA have agreed to make a good faith effort to play as many games as possible this year, which could include playing games without fans.

\"By a matter of weeks, we will be able to play games without crowds [before we can play games] with them,\" one team executive said.

\"I think the only way we play, at least initially, is without fans,\" another executive added.

The main issue would be that some teams need gate revenue more than others, and playing games without fans may not be economically feasible for some teams.

I’m all for being positive and hoping for the best, but baseball isn’t happening in May. NY is still trending up and other cities are beginning to spike. This thing isn’t going to subside anytime soon.

The best option, IMO, is to start after the July 14 All-Star game. A half season is the best we’re going to get, if we get anything at all.
