Mets Could Consider Renegotiating Jacob deGrom\'s Contract

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Nov 23, 2020 2:12 pm

The New York Mets could consider renegotiating Jacob deGrom\'s contract this offseason.

The pitcher signed a five-year, $137.5 million extension entering the 2019 season. deGrom signed the deal with his previous agency, CAA, and it has an opt-out clause after 2022.

The Mets would look to renegotiate and add a few seasons to the deal.

deGrom is owed at least $30.5 million in 2023 and has a $32.5 million team option for 2024.

How about the Met's new brass wait to see if deGrom's arm holds up before they saddle themselves with even more years?

They are already going to have to eat the albatross contract that is Robinson Cano, unless he tests positive for PED's a third time (fingers crossed).
