Daniel Bard, Salvador Perez Win Comeback Player Of Year

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Dec 11, 2020 12:59 pm

Colorado Rockies reliever Daniel Bard and Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez have been named this year\'s recipients of the National and American League Comeback Player of the Year awards.

Bard, 35, was once a highly touted prospect for the Boston Red Sox. His career was derailed by control issues that led him to retire in 2017 and take a coaching job with the Arizona Diamondbacks. After finding out in January that he was throwing in the mid-90s again, he signed a Minor League deal with the Rockies. During the shortened season, Bard went 4-2 with six saves and a 3.65 ERA in 23 appearances.

Perez, 30, missed the 2019 season after having Tommy John surgery, but returned to hit a career-best .333 with 11 home runs and 32 RBIs in 37 games.
