Shohei Ohtani \'Fine\' After Limping Off From Historic Start

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Apr 5, 2021 12:28 pm

Shohei Ohtani left Sunday\'s game against the Chicago White Sox after taking a cleat to his left ankle in the fifth inning.

The Los Angeles Angels said Ohtani wasn\'t removed from his outing because of injury -- he had already thrown 92 pitches -- and that he was merely sore.

Ohtani said his leg felt \"fine\" after the game, adding that the collision \"wasn\'t as bad as it looked.\"

The two-way player hit on the same day of his start for the first time in his Major League career. He threw a 101 mph fastball in the top of the first inning and hitting a baseball 115 mph in the bottom of the first.

Ohtani, 26, finished 1-for-3 at the plate, including a lineout to center and a hard groundout up the middle. On the mound, he was charged with three runs (one earned) on two hits, five walks and seven strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.
