White Sox Not Ready To Move Michael Kopech Into Rotation

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Apr 27, 2021 12:39 pm

The Chicago White Sox aren\'t ready to move Michael Kopech into the rotation just yet.

Kopech struck out 10 batters over five innings against the Texas Rangers on Sunday in his second start of the season.

\"This is definitely not the time to think about moving Michael into the rotation,\" Tony La Russa said. \"Michael Kopech is going to be a top-line starting pitcher. But right now it made sense to get him in condition and add more and more pitches.\"

The 25-year-old had been one of the game\'s top pitching prospects prior to undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2018. He missed the 2019 season rehabbing from the operation, and he then opted out of the shortened 2020 season for personal reasons.

Kopech has now made six appearances this season, tallying 27 strikeouts in 15 2/3 innings.
