However, Scherzer could use his full no-trade protection if the Nationals are presented with offers from multiple clubs.
Washington\'s level of interest in moving Scherzer has yet to be determined.
The pitcher\'s contract contains a lot of deferred money. The roughly $11.8 million remaining of Scherzer\'s $35 million salary for 2021 is entirely deferred until 2028.
