Juan Soto: Nationals Made $350M Extension Offer Before Lockout

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Feb 17, 2022 12:46 pm

The Washington Nationals offered Juan Soto a 13-year, $350 million contract extension prior to the lockout, the outfielder has confirmed.

The offer was intended to start this season and did not include deferred money, according to a club source.

\"Yes, they made me an offer a few months ago, before the lockout,\" Soto said. \"But right now, my agents and I think the best option is to go year by year and wait for free agency. My agent, Scott Boras, has control over the situation.\"

Soto is eligible for free agency after the 2024 season.

I'm sure he will get near or more the same type of offer eventually...but to turn that down :o
