The San Diego Padres have signed Mitch Walding to a Minor League contract.
Walding agreed to the deal as a catcher, despite logging more than 7,000 professional innings at third base. The 29-year-old appeared in the Major Leagues with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2018 and 2019, tallying a combined 15 games.
