Opening Day Stolen Bases Increase Drastically

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Mar 31, 2023 12:45 pm

As expected there were more stolen bases on Opening Day this year than last.

Major League Baseball increased the size of its bases to promote safety and to add excitement by increasing the frequency of stolen bases.

According to Alex Fast, there were 21 stolen bases on Thursday with a 91% success rate. In 2022, Opening Day saw just five steals and a 56% success rate.

It's outrageous how Americans adjust the fundamentals of their sports based on ratings.

You shouldn't change things. You forever alter history. Over time, the sport will mean nothing. No player will be comparable to another.

"Americans" haha

FIBA and Euroleague basketball have literally made dozens of rule changes over the past decades. They have changed rules every single season, including a handful this year.

Why maximize the enjoyment of watching something in the present when you could instead pompously reflect upon the sanctity of a meaningless competition meant as a form of entertainment?
