The Philadelphia Phillies have placed Jose Alvarado on the 15-day injured list with inflammation in his pitching elbow.
Alvarado initially felt discomfort during warmups before Tuesday\'s game against the Toronto Blue Jays. The move was made retroactive to Monday.
The 27-year-old reliever has converted five of seven save chances this season, compiling a 1.88 ERA with 24 strikeouts and zero walks through 14 1/3 innings.
