If the Los Angeles Angels trade Shohei Ohtani before the August 1 deadline, the New York Yankees are the most likely suitor, according to a report.

\"You start with the Yankees. The Yankees, the Yankees, the Yankees,\" ESPN\'s Buster Olney said, before mentioning the Texas Rangers and Tampa Bay Rays as other teams that could make an effort to acquire Ohtani this month.

\"In talking with sources yesterday, they see the Yankees as potentially being the most motivated, because Gerrit Cole, Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton -- they are middle-aged players right in the prime of their careers,\" Olney added. \"This is the Yankees\' window to win now.\"

I think Buster Olney is ignoring a couple of realities about Ohtani's trade.
-Angels would only trade him for a historic return.
- any team that trades for him would obviously want to sign him to a long term deal, many estimate that to be around $60-65M a year. So team that trades their top prospect for Ohtani would lose ability to support their team with low cost players from their farm system, and would potentially have $400M or more payroll.

I don't think Ohtani is getting traded.
