Longtime Milwaukee Brewers executive David Stearns has been in contact with the New York Mets and Houston Astros about a front office role.
Stearns stepped down from running baseball operations and moved into an advisory role for longtime lieutenant Matt Arnold after the 2022 season.
Brewers owner Mark Attanasio had the ability to block Stearns from interviewing with other clubs, but his contract allowed him to begin talking to other teams after the August 1 trade deadline.
Stearns, 38, worked for the Mets early in his front office career.
