Mets Don\'t Expect Sympathy For Sorry Season

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Sep 12, 2023 5:29 am

New York Mets manager Buck Showalter expects little empathy from the rest of the major leagues for his team\'s sorry season.

Expected to contend for a title with a record payroll of $355 million on Opening Day, the Mets will enter Tuesday\'s action with a 65-78 record, eliminated from the NL East race on Sept. 2. After a 4-3 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night, they are now 10 games back in the wild-card chase with 19 to play.

\"You\'re looking for sympathy up here, people will step on your neck and laugh while you\'re bleeding,\" Showalter said before the series opener. \"Just like we would have at them last year.\"
