Despite the failures of the 2023 season, the San Diego Padres hope to retain both president of baseball operations A.J. Preller and manager Bob Melvin.
The Padres will miss the playoffs despite a $255 million payroll.
There have been reports of a \"fractured\" relationship between Preller and Melvin and of plans to reduce the club\'s payroll significantly this offseason.
