The San Diego Padres have had internal discussions about moving Xander Bogaerts off shortstop, according to a report.
The club would ask Bogaerts to move to first or second base.
San Diego would prefer to have Ha-Seong Kim and Jake Cronenworth as their double-play combination, with Manny Machado at third and Bogaerts at first.
The 31-year-old signed an 11-year, $280 million contract with the Padres last winter.
