Report: Mets May Be Early Favorites For Juan Soto

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Feb 26, 2024 1:27 pm

The New York Mets are \"not only expected to strongly pursue, but could be among the favorites\" to land Juan Soto, according to a report.

Soto, acquired in a trade by the New York Yankees this offseason, is expected to hit free agency after the 2024 season.

Which free agents did they miss on? They brought in Max & Verlander who were the top pitchers. They had a huge offer in for Correa which was accepted but medicals canceled the deal. I’m glad they did not spend outrageous money on Xander Boegarts. San Diego may regret that decision. Trea Turner a player I would have really wanted but I think he had his mind made up on Philadelphia. Also they did not go after Aaron Judge which who knows if he just didn’t want to start a war with NYY. Judge prob wouldn’t have left NYY for NYM anyways. This off-season was a wash because of the deals made at the deadline. Cody Bellinger for three years with player options could have been a deal NYM to consider but they don’t have many spots in the outfield but we need a consistent DH badly. Next year I am hopeful spending will continue to surge for some big market free agents. Might be another tough year at the deadline especially if Senga is hurt
