Ross Atkins: Blue Jays In \'Tough Spot\' Ahead Of Trade Deadline
The Toronto Blue Jays are six games below .500 and in interesting position leading up to next month\'s trade deadline.
They\'ve made the playoffs in three of the last four years, but would need to put together quite a turnaround to qualify this fall.
Ross Atkins acknowledged the team\'s precarious position while speaking to reporters on Thursday night.
\"We\'ve obviously put ourselves into a tough spot over the last seven days,\" the general manager said. \"Ten days ago, we were feeling like there was positive momentum, and that has gone away.\"
ESPN\'s Jeff Passan wrote earlier this week that the Blue Jays weren\'t yet willing to make key players available in trade. Atkins suggested similarly in his comments on Thursday, saying the front office\'s \"focus is on the 2024 team.\"
