The Boston Red Sox have released Rich Hill.
If Hill signs elsewhere, he won\'t be eligible for the postseason since it\'s after September 1.
The Red Sox designated Hill for assignment on Friday.
Hill allowed two earned runs in 3 2/3 innings this season (four appearances), striking out five and walking three.
