Francisco Lindor \'Optimistic\' He\'ll Return This Week
Francisco Lindor is \"optimistic\" he will play again for the New York Mets before the regular season concludes Sunday, but he stopped short of saying he is 100% confident he will return from a back injury over the club\'s final six games.
Lindor has not played a full game for the Mets since Sept. 11. Two days later, he exited a win over the Philadelphia Phillies in the seventh inning with back discomfort. He took the next day off and played just one inning on Sept. 15 before being removed because the pain made bending over difficult.
\"If I play this year, I don\'t think it\'s going to be pain-free,\" Lindor said. \"I\'m OK with that. I just don\'t want it to be a constant pain where I can\'t bend over. And then I put my teammates in a position where I\'m not helping them as much as I can. That\'s not fair for anybody. And, for me, it\'s to be in a position where if it\'s going to hurt, it\'s going to come and go.\"
