Reds President: Team \'Should Have Been Better\'

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Sep 24, 2024 12:02 pm

The Cincinnati Reds will immediately begin their search for a new manager after firing David Bell.

The club announced the move Sunday night hours after a 2-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Bell held the position for six seasons.

Bench coach Freddie Benavides was named interim manager for the final five games of the season.

Reds president of baseball operations Nick Krall cited inconsistency, philosophical differences, players not playing to their potential and some young players who were added to the roster last season not developing as fast as the organization had hoped.

\"When you look across the board, I thought we should have been better,\" he said.

With a week left in the season, the Reds are 76-81 and in fourth place in the National League Central.
