Yankees Have Spent $3 Billion In Salaries Since 2009 World Series
Since they last won a World Series in 2009, the New York Yankees have spent more than $3 billion in player salaries and have won more games than all but one other MLB club.
In the 103 years since their first World Series appearance in 1921, the Yankees have never gone more than 15 years without a trip to the Fall Class. That was the gap between Reggie Jackson\'s last World Series appearance in 1981 and Derek Jeter\'s first in 1996. The Yankees are presently two wins away from ending another 15-year gap beginning with Jeter\'s last World Series in 2009 and Aaron Judge\'s first in 2024.
“We understand the weight of what we need to do,” Giancarlo Stanton said, “the importance of this time.”
“If we don’t win it all,” Judge said, “I feel like it’s my fault.”
The Yankees haven\'t had a losing record since 1992 and have reached the playoffs in 25 of the last 30 seasons.
