The Athletics have officially dropped Oakland from their name as they begin their eventual move to Las Vegas.
Per a club announcement, the team will simply be known as \"Athletics.\" They can also be referred to as the A\'s and ATH is the approved designation for the team.
Las Vegas has committed public dollars to the construction of a new ballpark for the A\'s, but that partial funding will be secured only if owner John Fisher is able to secure private financing for the rest of the stadium project.
In the meantime, they\'ll call Sacramento home.
