Pete Alonso has approached the New York Mets about a three-year deal with opt-outs as his market continues to be slow to develop. Through his age-29 season (3,607 plate appearances), Alonso has 226 homers. He has missed just 24 games over six seasons.

The Mets signed Juan Soto to a 15-year deal this offseason, but have been focused on shorter deals elsewhere.

With Alonso willing to sign for a shorter period of time, there could be some movement in talks.

Let us remember he turned down a 7-year, $158M dollar contract extension during the season. There is a lesson to be learnt here kiddos.

I did not hear about that offer!

At this point I just hope the Mets get it done. Nothing would be worse than him going to the Yankees or a division rival and lighting us up like most other ex-Mets do.
