The Athletics and outfielder Lawrence Butler have agreed to a seven-year extension worth $65.5 million. The deal includes a club option.
Butler broke out in the second half of last season after being called back up from a demotion to the minors. From June 18 on, Butler hit .291 with 20 home runs and 15 stolen bases.
